WA13, testing at Warrington. Village and rural lanes make for good early learning and poor test preparation, so we deliberately mix them.
Tell us whether you have driven before and when you can get out.
We update availability every Monday.
Starting out on the lanes around Lymm is genuinely easier — less traffic, fewer junctions, more room for mistakes. It is a kind first hour and a misleading tenth.
The test happens in Warrington, on roads that look nothing like them. So we move into town earlier than learners usually expect, while the rural work is still useful for control and confidence.

Passing places, blind bends and hedges you cannot see over teach judgement that town driving does not. Learners from the villages are frequently better at reading a road than town learners.
They are also more often caught out by traffic volume. Knowing which of those you are is most of planning your lessons properly.
Neither appears on the test, because learners cannot be tested on motorways. Both will be part of your life within a week of passing if you live out this way.
That is what Pass Plus is for, and we would push it harder here than anywhere else on the patch.
Around twenty minutes on a clear run and longer at the wrong time, so the pre-test hour is built around leaving in good time rather than driving quickly.
We do the last few lessons before a test from the Warrington side deliberately, so the roads you finish on are the roads you will be tested on.
Lymm village has narrow approaches, parked cars on both sides and bridges that force you to give way without a sign telling you to.
It is excellent practice for judgement and poor practice for the test, which happens on wider roads with clearer priorities. We use it for the former and say so.
Before you book anything: check the waiting time at your nearest test centre. It moves constantly, and it is the single biggest thing that decides how long this takes. We will look it up with you rather than let you find out in three months.

Something not covered here? Ring it — you will get an instructor rather than an office.
01925 640 118No, and we will say so early. The test is in Warrington on very different roads, so we move into town sooner than people expect.
Around twenty minutes. The pre-test hour is built around getting there without a rush.
More than anywhere else we cover. The M6 and M56 are on your doorstep and neither appears on the test.
Yes, and from Grappenhall and Thelwall too. No charge inside the area.
The lanes are genuinely dark, which is useful practice. We cover it properly rather than avoiding it.
Yes, anywhere inside the covered area, and it can change week to week.
Same rate, same instructors, and the test centre each area usually uses.
Tell us whether you have driven before and how often you can get out. We come back with a realistic number of hours, what it costs and who has slots.
